High Swinside nestles in a peaceful location on the lower slopes of Swinside Fell, leading to Hopegill Head (2,525') above the village of Lorton in the Lake District National Park.   Its south-west facing aspect provides guests with an idyllic and spectacular

panoramic view.

Originally a working Lakeland hill-farm, High Swinside now offers a tranquil escape from the daily grind, yet is still only a short drive from some of Lakeland's most popular destinations such as  Buttermere,  Crummock, Loweswater, and the bustling market towns of Keswick and Cockermouth.

We offer you the perfect base from which to explore the northern and western Lake District at an all-year centre for walking, cycling, touring and enjoying fresh Lakeland air.

Stop your clock at High Swinside!

About our Cottages........

    High Swinside comprises three

comfortable, well equipped, family run, self-catering cottages, each with wonderful views and modern facilities.

We live on site, in an adjacent

converted barn (The Brew House), which was the starting place of the local Jennings Brewery, due to the natural spring water originally used by Jennings for their beers.

(We still use the original source).

We are on hand to assist you on your arrival and during your stay.  The property opens directly onto the open fell to the rear so you can set off walking or cycling into the fells  from your cottage.
